Conclusion

I don't believe the Paramount Skydance acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is going to be an easy road for CEO David Ellison to traverse. Even if the $110-billion deal doesn't meet any opposition domestically, European countries like the United Kingdom, France, and Belgium have the power to cause delays, or even worse: derail the entire enterprise.

To quote a quite infamous line from The Next Generation and beyond: "Resistance is futile." Yes, I believe the Paramount/Warner Bros. merger is going to happen. And, for myself as a Paramount+ subscriber already, I'll likely plunk down the extra cash because I'm also a fan of Turner Classic Movies and the DCU (available on HBO Max), so it's easy to justify paying more, in order to have access to such a vast library of content.

I'm also the person who justifies paying for MLB TV, so I can have access to my favorite sport (Major League Baseball) 24/7. However, that's an addiction, not unlike my love for Star Trek, to discuss and delve into elsewhere.

What are your thoughts on the possible effects of the Paramount Skydance/Warner Bros. Discovery merger on Star Trek? Are you going to boldly go and pay the unquestionably higher cost for whatever the HBO Max/Paramount+ takes the shape of? Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
