8. Discovery

The idea behind these credits is interesting as they act like blueprints for the USS Discovery , phasers and other devices. A Trek intro series with no space scenes is odd, although the excellent music by Jeff Russo fits Trek perfectly. The design schematics are well-detailed, and it can be argued that taking things apart fits how it deconstructs some of the franchise’s motifs.

It’s not terrible by any means, yet it seems to lack that extra something to stand tall. A show called Discovery should be about exploring new vistas and horizons. They could have at least used the time jump as inspiration for a new sequence set in the far future rather than being too low-key for its own good. However, Russo's theme sprinkles in just enough of The Original Series music to add some nostalgia that is sure to satisfy the fans.
