Dr. Chivers joins the USS Enterprise for Strange New Worlds' fourth season soap.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers are to be congratulated, as is the show’s casting director, for including the legendary queen of daytime drama Deidre Hall in season 4’s soap opera episode “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass.” And Hall, who had “an incredible” time on SNW shared the following post on Instagram along with some memorable on-set images.
“I had such an incredible time being part of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds universe!” Hall wrote on her social media account. “My experience on set was truly out of this world, and I’m so excited that I finally get to share it with all of you. Special thanks to our profoundly talented director Anna Dozoka, cast and crew! I hope you’ll join me for this exciting adventure when it begins streaming tomorrow, September 3, exclusively on Paramount+!”
I really enjoyed Hall stepping into the very familiar role of ship’s counselor, in this case Dr. Chivers, which became such an important part of the Star Trek mythology when beloved actress Marina Sirtis became the Betazoid voice of reason aboard the USS Enterprise-D for The Next Generation.
In “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass,” Hall does get to be a little melodramatic during Trelane’s (Rhys Darby) dissertation to study human behavior, but even in those scenes her character is quite grounded.
However, I was delighted to see Hall’s even more nuanced and emotional interaction with Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) when the simulation ends, and the Enterprise commander finally faces the loss of Marie Batel and their daughter by confiding his heartbreaking sorrow to Dr. Chivers.
