Spock’s life is on the line in the next episode of Strange New Worlds
“Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass” is not only Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4’s seventh episode, but it’s also an homage to, of all things, soap operas. However, the stakes have never been higher for Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck), who needs a transfusion to live! Also peppered in for good measure and storytelling purposes are none other than the return of Spock’s half-brother, Sybok, and the mischievous Trelane.
Fans can watch the brand-new teaser for Strange New Worlds S4 episode seven below, courtesy of Paramount+ Mexico, which feels very reminiscent to what happened to Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) in The Next Generation episode “Tapestry.” In that must-see TNG installment, Picard was injured and assisted by Q (John de Lancie). And here Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) is hurt during a shuttle accident, which I assume is where Trelane comes in.
First, Sybok’s return is something the Star Trek fandom has been waiting for ever since the character was teased in the first season of Strange New Worlds. And, personally, I can’t get enough of the Q continuum, so Trelane’s presence in “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass,” is all I need to already be invested in SNW’s attempt at the soap opera genre. It's been a while since we last saw him in season 3 of SNW.
Yes, Star Trek fans seem to be in for more genre jumping, but the footage from “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass” appears to offer plenty of dramatic obstacles for the crew of the USS Enterprise to overcome. I just wonder how dire the situation is since Trelane is involved — and if he magically sets things right at the episode’s end.
I also suspect that La’an Noonien Singh (Christina Chong) will rethink breaking up with Spock, realizing how much she loves him now that he’s at death’s door. And, yes, I’m predicting the episode will end with La’an and Spock getting back together.
