Martin Quinn even uploaded some behind-the-scene images of Scotty and Uhura's romance.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ season 4 finale, “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” gave fans a terrifying glimpse of a future without Mr. Scott (Martin Quinn). Naturally, though, (SPOILER ALERT) the streaming series was never going to off one of the science fiction franchise’s most beloved legacy characters. However, it was still quite the moment to behold when Scotty’s console exploded and killed the USS Enterprise’s miracle worker.
And Quinn, who has portrayed Mr. Scott since the Strange New Worlds season 2 finale “Hegemony,” jumped on social media after “Tomorrow’s Enterprise” debuted and dropped 20 behind-the-scenes photos from the must-see episode. Six of those images are gnarly BTS pics of Scotty’s death makeup straight from the set of SNW, which fans can check out via Quinn's Instagram account by clicking this link.
My personal favorites of Quinn’s photos are those of him in which the actor took close-up pics revealing the level of detail the Strange New Worlds’ talented make-up team created to sell the engineer’s emotional death on the Enterprise bridge.
Mixed among the images of Scotty’s death from “Tomorrow’s Enterprise” are also several BTS photos of Quinn with co-star Celia Rose Gooding. The Strange New Worlds season 4 finale centered around Mr. Scott and Lt. Nyota Uhura’s (Gooding) romance, and Quinn uploaded plenty of moments the two shared — from the table read to their days shooting the episode together.
“I love that fact that I’m getting to play this character that was in The Original Series,” Quinn said in an interview with Inverse. “But he also touched base with The Next Generation, [which] is really quite special as well. It’s quite moving that I’m part of this franchise in more than one way […] I hope, in life, I can get to the point where I'm as sure of myself as Scotty is. There’s something really reassuring and inspirational about Scotty.”
