Star Trek: Strange New Worlds warped its way into this year’s New York Comic Con with four of the show’s beloved stars (Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, Martin Quinn, Melissa Navia) representing the Paramount+ series on the Empire Stage.
The cast flew straight in from the set of SNW season 5, but all four actors were energized and ready to speak to the Trekkies in attendance. Executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who additionally serves as the co-showrunner with Noga Landau on the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy show, was also on hand in the Big Apple.
So, did the Strange New Worlds showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, who also attended the panel, have anything good to offer loyal Trekkies after a subpar season 3 of SNW? The answer is a resounding yes, as those on hand at the NYCC were treated to a special sneak peek of Strange New Worlds season 4. Check out the brand-new footage (above).
Biggest takeaways from NYCC 2025:
Peck acknowledged at NYCC that Spock's SNW relationships with La'an and Chapel will inform his growing connection with James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley). Meanwhile, romance is on the horizon in season 4 for Uhura, which is a storyline that Gooding insisted on.
Meanwhile, Navia is grateful for helmsman Ortegas' extended screen time in season 3, specifically thanking the fans for their overwhelming support, and Quinn would love for Scotty to visit Scotland. However, the actor leaves the storytelling to the show's scribes. So, what are the chances that actually happens?
Strange New Worlds features Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck), Number One (Rebecca Romijn), Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush), La'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), Lt. Ortegas (Melissa Navia) — she flies the ship! — and, course, the USS Enterprise’s medical officer, Dr. M'Benga (Babs Olusanmokun).
Paul Wesley’s Kirk should be featured more prominently in the upcoming season of Strange New Worlds, which only makes sense as his time serving in the captain’s chair of the USS Enterprise isn’t far away. With only two seasons of SNW left, destiny is just around the corner for Kirk. However, the NYCC panel didn’t reveal any details regarding whether Wesley will lead his own series in the future.
