One of the most dynamic relationships featured on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is shared by James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) and Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck). However, their dynamic partnership could continue if Paramount Skydance and CBS Studios greenlight the sequel series Star Trek: Year One in the future.
But would Wesley and Peck be willing to sign up and reprise their roles as these beloved Star Trek characters? Well, while appearing at this year’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP) in Mexico City, both actors made their intentions clear. “I’d be very excited to do it,” Peck said via TrekMovie.com. Wesley then added: “We’d be thrilled to do it.”
Despite the fact that Kirk only appears as a recurring character through the first three seasons of Strange New Worlds, his dynamic relationship with Spock is palpable virtually every time Wesley and Peck share the screen together. However, it seems like two other SNW actors might also be ready to be aboard Year One, should it materialize in the future.
Rebecca Romijn, who portrays Number One, aka Una Chin-Riley, said while in Mexico City with her Strange New Worlds co-stars, “Sounds like a great idea.” Plus, it wouldn’t really be the bridge of the USS Enterprise without Lt. Nyota Uhura holding down the communications station.
Celia Rose Gooding, who has portrayed Uhura since season 1 of Strange New Worlds, said about possibly reprising her role while at CCXP, “I think fans wanting to see more of us is always a pleasant feeling. It’s very flattering.”
As much as I love Uhura and Number One, Star Trek: Year One could work without them, since Kirk and Spock would be the focal point of the possible sequel show, much like their characters often took the spotlight. And, hopefully, Thomas Jane will play Dr. McCoy in more than just the Strange New Worlds series finale.
