Captain James T. Kirk is truly a wanted man. Or at least, the man who plays him on the silver screen seems to be. In one of the most silly lawsuits of all time, Kirk himself, aka Chris Pine, is being sued by his neighbor for the crime of...planting weeping figs.

Pine, now known for the dastardly crime of planting trees, is being sued by his California neighbor Helen Yu, for planting the trees, which apparently have caused some very minor issues in his neighbor's yard. The weeping figs, aka Ficus Benjamina trees, are at the center of a boundary dispute between the two. In Yu's defense, Ficus Benjamina trees are very invasive and are known for having very disruptive roots. However, from what can be gleaned, they aren't illegal to plant in California.

This isn't even the first time Hu has sued Pine, as she once again sued him in 2022 for "trespass, nuisance, and negligence." Pine has since counter-sued her, alleging that she built a fence on his piece of the property. Evidently, these issues have been long ongoing between the two sides.

To make matters even worse, Pine is being accused by Yu of ducking the legal proceedings. Yu has been trying to have Pine deposed by the courts since January of 2023, which he avoids doing for one reason or another. Now, she's trying to pressure the courts into ordering Pine into a deposition, so that a potential resolution can finally come about.

The results of the first lawsuit are unknown, as the two parties went into mediation, but it seems as though the root of the current issue stems from the fallout of that original lawsuit. Pine's countersuit apparently happened after the initial mediation according to Consequence.com. Yu then apparently filed the "new" lawsuit shortly after that.

For some reason, the article states that she was originally seeking $271k, but was going to "give" him $75,000. Presumably for the piece of property, her fence now occupies. That of course didn't happen and now Yu is apparently seeking $500k, with $225k being sought for "emotional distress".

The worst part about all of this nonsense is that Pine didn't have the decency to just plant pine trees, so every headline could be "Neighbor sues Chris Pine over Pine's trees.".
