"Season 2 will be our last season: that is really hard for me to say."

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 struggled in the ratings and was further bombarded with harsh critiques from haters and so-called fans who don’t have an inkling what the franchise’s IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) stands for.

Yes, sadly, Starfleet Academy was canceled earlier today (March 23) and won’t go any further than season 2. However, SFA standout Karim Diane took to social media following the disappointing announcement and thanked the true Trekkies who supported the show. The actor wrote on his Instagram post, which you can watch below:

“Love ya’ll 🫶🏾 Season 2 is GAY AF, and I have SOOOOO much BTS content coming your way. Please prepare to be sick of me 😭😭 I’m going to be EVEN LOUDER and more annoying about this beautiful gay Klingon. We going out IN FLAMES 🔥”

For those who haven’t watched Starfleet Academy, the talented thespian, Diane, portrayed the Klingon cadet Jay-Den Kraag. Many haters and so-called fans lashed out on social media after SFA season 1 revealed Jay-Den was gay, but I admire creator Gaia Violo, the showrunners (Alex Kurtzman, Noga Landau), and the show’s team of writers for continuing to push the franchise’s important theme of IDIC.

Jay-Den was one of my favorite characters, and I have a sneaking suspicion the powers that be will make sure this killer Klingon resurfaces in future Treks. Fortunately, the true fans still have 10 more episodes of Starfleet Academy to enjoy when season 2 is finally released on Paramount+.
