After debuting in the second episode "Beta Test," Tarima Sadal became a key part of Starfleet Academy and a fantastic character. We’ve seen Betazoids in Trek before, like Deanna Troi, but Deanna was a half-human adult. Tarima is a younger full Betazoid who, even by her species standards, possesses some incredible mental powers which she can barely control.

Zoe Steiner was lovely in the role, especially her banter with Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta). Tarima was no side piece. She was strong and independent, with a sharp tongue able to put Caleb in his place and hold her own at the War College.

The character has a lot still to offer, with the idea that she’s stronger than other Betazoids, and she’s just scraped the surface of that potential. There’s also examining Betazoid culture, something long overdue for Star Trek. Steiner herself comes off so wonderfully on screen that ignoring her and Tarima would be unfair, so here’s hoping the creators find a way to bring her back.
