1. Nus Braka

Whatever else one feels about Starfleet Academy, it gave us one of the most intriguing villains the Trek franchise has seen in quite a while. Honestly, so many Trek foes since Discovery have been lackluster to forgettable, from muddied motives to rough performances.
Nus Braka is different, though.
First, Paul Giamatti was clearly having the absolute time of his life in the role. The man took scenery-chewing to a new level, delivering an infectious, grandiose performance. He dominated every second of his screen time and elevated Braka from a seemingly arrogant thug to a conniving criminal genius, who could outplay experienced Starfleet captains and even come close to bringing down the entire Federation.
At the same time, Braka’s backstory added pathos to his character. Discovering his own father was responsible for the destruction he’d long blamed on the Federation broke something in Braka, which created pity for him from some of the fans.
Seeing what happens next is great fodder if Braka only comes back more conniving than before, and a series about Braka navigating the Trek universe's underworld would be magnificent. It’s all thanks to Giamatti, though, as his turn gave fans a Trek villain who more than deserves another chance to shine.
