Lost Contact 'expands into new territory with our cadet-centric cast'

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’s third episode, “Vitus Reflux,” doesn’t even drop on Paramount Plus until Jan. 22, but IDW is already teasing Trekkies with five more adventures featuring the characters from the new streaming series. Starfleet Academy — Lost Contact’s editor, Cassandra Jones, touts the talents of the upcoming comic book series, while also promising respect will be paid to what has "come before" in the science fiction franchise. Jones said (per Nerdist):
“STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY – LOST CONTACT doesn’t only pay respect to what’s come before in your classic Star Trek yarn, it expands into new territory with our cadet-centric cast (the angst! the miscommunication!) and has a lot of fun playing with form.”
Jones continued by saying:
“Morgan is an expert hand at writing complex interpersonal dramas, and Espuna and Serrano’s art combines to make something both painterly and unique. I truly believe there’s a Star Trek story out there for everyone—so if you love coming-of-age comics or teen soaps, this one is for you!”
Now, check out the artwork from one of Lost Contact’s covers below before continuing to the synopsis that reveals some juicy tidbits which differ from what is happening on the Starfleet Academy streaming series at this time. (Continued…)
