No, Trekkies, it’s not Alex Kurtzman.

One of the big three behind the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Paramount Plus series has acquired new representation. And, no, it’s neither Alex Kurtzman nor Noga Landau.

Executive producer, writer, and creator Gaia Violo has officially inked a contract with Anonymous Content, according to the trade publication, Deadline. This impressively expands the creative’s team of representatives which already includes the Beverly Hills entertainment law firm Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, Inc., among others.

Starfleet Academy marks Violo’s first professional producing credit, and she is beaming aboard one of the most beloved and lucrative franchises of all time. Like the latter seasons of Star Trek: Discovery, Violo, Kurtzman, and Landau’s Trek is set in the 32nd century.

The core of the show centers around five young cadets hoping to become the future of Starfleet. Chancellor Nahla Ake (Holly Hunter) will be teaching them in both San Francisco and in space aboard the school’s primary campus which doubles as the stellar Federation starship, the USS Athena.

Meanwhile, what good would the show be without any obstacles? And before these newcomers can learn anything, let alone graduate, they will have to face off against Nus Braka, the half-Klingon, half-Tellarite, who is the series’ over-the-top villain. Plus, Paul Giamatti fulfills his lifelong dream of playing a Klingon, and we fans are so lucky to have such a talented actor contributing to the series.

Naturally, Violo’s role as executive producer of Starfleet Academy is important, but the creative pressures of the upcoming project lie firmly on the shoulders of the showrunners, Kurtzman and Noga.

Unfortunately, should Trekkies come away displeased with the final product next year, I firmly believe Kurtzman and Landau will be the ones feeling the heat, not Violo. All the Starfleet Academy footage looks intriguing, though, thus far. So, hopefully, the new Star Trek series will be a runaway hit for its creator and showrunners. And, please... be better than Discovery.

Even if it’s not, season 2 of Starfleet Academy is already in the works. For more Star Trek content, and to share your thoughts/comments on the matter, visit the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy debuts Jan. 15, 2026, on Paramount Plus.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
