Should Trekkies really care what the Homeland Security Advisor thinks about Star Trek?

This editorial addresses Stephen Miller’s comments about saving the franchise.

Labeling Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as divisive would be a Deep Space 9-sized understatement. The new streaming series has been praised by critics, but also lambasted by segments of the fandom following its two-episode premiere — and now the White House’s own Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor, Stephen Miller, has chimed in on the issue. However, should we really care, Trekkies? Miller wrote the following in a post that he added to his X account:

“Tragic. But it’s not too late for @paramountplus to save the franchise. Step 1: Reconcile with @WilliamShatner and give him total creative control.”
