It’s hard to see a better example of opposites attracting than this. Lura Thok was an instant highlight of Starfleet Academy as the hard-nosed cadet master.

As a Jem’Hadar/Klingon hybrid, she was obviously a tough woman who enjoys yelling every other sentence, strong, independent, and suffers no fools. Lura finding romance with anyone seemed unlikely as softening didn't see to be in her nature.

Which is why it’s brilliant that her romantic partner is the sardonic, dry, quirky engineer Jett Reno (a welcome Tig Notaro). The pair balance each other out with a relationship that is quite physical (considering Reno's 17 broken ribs) while also containing true heart.

The comedy is fun to watch as it feels like a real relationship with all its warts. It’s wonderful to witness, humanizing Thok, brightening up Reno, and downright inspiring to see these two carry on like an old married couple amid the Academy madness.
