Every Star Trek series needs a good bromance.

For Starfleet Academy, that’s obviously Jay-Den Kraag and Darem Reymi. After Darem initially tried to bully Jay-Den, they hit it off well as two of the top aliens, and it was telling that Jay-Den was the first friend the arrogant Darem truly made at the Academy.

Darem even taught Jay-Den to get over his fear of public speaking. And while Darem eventually softned to Jay-Den and Kyle's relationship, it's clear that there are unexplored romantic feelings between the Klingon and Khionian cadets, which will hopefully be explored during season 2.

SFA's seventh episode, “Ko’Zeine,” put the bromance on full display when Jay-Den followed Darem to the Sunset Moon of his homeworld, Khionia, where the latter had to go through an arranged marriage. Their argument was tough, yet Jay-Den still acted as the best man, delivering a lovely speech on how great a guy Darem was.

That inspired Darem to choose his own dreams over his people, and the Khionian being made a member of the House of Kraag only underlines how close the pair became. The two cadets are more like brothers than friends, sharing a relationship stronger than any romance could be, and another reason SFA stands out from the crowd.
