There's plenty of buzz around Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, but this new, nostalgic video from Star Trek's official Instagram account has all of us reaching for the nearest box of tissues!
The clip (below) features Captain Nahla Ake (Holly Hunter), who is also the chancellor of Starfleet Academy. New cadets have assembled before her, and she talks about the importance of their role and how the legacy of others who have come before them can serve as an inspiration, saying, "Like them, you will learn to dream without limitations."
While her speech is inspiring, that's not what has us Trekkies tearing up. It's the names of some of our most beloved characters from the past streaming behind the newly minted cadets, from Spock to Captain Demora Sulu to Wesley Crusher and Jonathan Archer.
Every series is represented, and it makes us fans remember that Star Trek is more than just Captain Kirk's signature fighting style or Captain Janeway's love of coffee. Although, I can so relate to the latter! It's a past we share along with them. (Continued...)
