Finally, this beloved Star Trek actor is returning home to the franchise.
A new sneak peek (below) of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’s final three episodes dropped online, and there are certainly some fun and interesting moments intertwined in the combination of footage from previous episodes and from the final three installments of season 1. For instance, if Trekkies freeze the footage, Star Trek: Discovery’s Mary Wiseman can clearly be seen on multiple occasions, as she finally returns as Sylvia Tilly.
In one of the three instances featuring Tilly, she can be seen and heard saying, “I do love me some passion, the intrigue…” Near the end of the footage, Tilly can also be seen raising a glass with another Discovery star, Tig Notaro’s Jett Reno. And there’s another person not completely visible in the brief scene, but I’m assuming it’s Admiral Vance of Discovery, too.
Meanwhile, Jay-Den Kraag (Karim Diane) invites his classmates and friends into “his home,” while embracing his “new, chosen family.” Unfortunately, Darem (George Hawkins) can’t handle the fiery drink Jay-Den shares, which makes him glittery sick again. Plus, there are a few Nus Braka (Paul Giamatti) snippets dropped into the footage for good measure.
However, my favorite part from the new footage is that of the aforementioned Jett Reno — at least, it appears to be Starfleet’s snarkiest professor — sitting in the captain’s chair of the USS Athena, with Genesis (Bella Shepard) and Darem at the helm and navigation stations!
I also love the rogue outfits several of the cadets can be seen sporting in the sneak peek. Did you find any other interesting moments I didn’t bring up here? Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
