Trekkies have been waiting patiently for some new Star Trek adventures to drop on streaming since Strange New Worlds season 3 wrapped up its controversial run back in September. Right now, only Star Trek: Scouts is being released regularly on YouTube, and with all due respect to the must-watch content aimed specifically at preschoolers, it’s long past time for some more adult-oriented stories.

Fortunately, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is just around the corner, and a brand new poster (below) has been released today (Dec. 4), which features the show's main cadets, courtesy of Just Jared.

The key art shows the core-five cadets which include Darem Reymi (George Hawkins), the Klingon Jay-Den Kraag (Karim Diane), who is happily holding hands with SAM (Kerrice Brooks), Genesis Lythe (Bella Shepard), and Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta). Zoe Steiner’s Betazoid Tarima Sadal — Caleb’s love interest — is the final character featured in the first-look artwork.

Does the new key art have you even more excited to watch Star Trek: Starfleet Academy like this Trekkie? I still think the Klingon Kraag is going to be one of the most exciting new characters on the show, but I'm also interested to see just how much the hologram SAM is like our beloved Doctor (Robert Picardo).

It's also interesting to note that even before one episode of the new science fiction adventure hits streaming, the Paramount Skydance Corporation — newly merged earlier this year — will definitely be continuing with a second season of Starfleet Academy. I sure hope season 1 is good because a lot of fans will be shaking their heads if this doesn't work out.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
