Bad

The near perfect scores stopped with TVLine, which describes Star Trek: Starfleet Academy by saying: “a fresh-faced franchise reboot falls into the same old wormholes.” Overall, the publication gives the upcoming Trek only a C+ rating, which is a far cry from the 9 out of 10 it scored at both Collider and CBR. Meanwhile, ComicBook.com rates Starfleet Academy 3.5 out of 5 stars which lines up almost perfectly with TVLine’s assessment.
CB’s headline even compares the show to a very famous Wizarding World: “Starfleet Academy is Star Trek: Hogwarts (& it’s definitely not for everyone)." And Inverse warns, “Starfleet Academy really isn't your parents' Star Trek […] The Star Trek franchise's biggest swing in years is both radical and wholesome.”
Not too bad, right? Well, the first “ugly” review for the upcoming series comes from ScreenRant, and it's not pretty.
