Starfleet Academy's 'Rubincon' is way better than its low rating (and this is why)

The SFA season 1 finale deserves way better than 6.8/10 stars!

2. The Cadets work it out

The Life of the Stars

Thanks to Jett Reno’s pushing, the various cadets are all given a chance to show off their skills. Darem Reymi (George Hawkins) gets to do some nifty piloting to get the saucer going; Tarima Sadal (Zoe Steiner) gets over her trauma and uses her telepathy to find Anisha Mir, and thus Nus Braka.

Jay-Den Kraag (Karim Diane) figures out The Doctor’s words (explaining the title) with SAM (Kerrice Brooks), thus unlocking the method to defuse Braka’s Omega-47 minefield and allowing reinforcements to arrive.

Not only that, there’s excellent character development with SAM and Genesis Lythe (Bella Shepard) overcoming their problems. The Jay-Den/Darem bromance also continues, and Tarima accepts her abilities. "Rubincon" sells how close these cadets have come, not just friends but also as family, and together they’re an unbeatable team.

Best of all is Caleb Mir (Sandro Rosta) bringing things full circle by using his lessons from the Academy to see through Braka’s claims of the Federation destroying his home and defeating the man with words, not violence. "Rubincon" truly brought out the best in all the cadets.
