The ending of season 1 comes off more bittersweet, given how Starfleet Academy has been canceled. That means the next season is the last, only scraping the surface of the show’s potential. The ending of "Rubincon" is warm, with Anisha deciding to explore the galaxy and let Caleb continue his path in Starfleet, and the various characters continue to bond in as they prepare to return for the next year.

The best part of the season 1 finale is the closing credits, showing a classic “yearbook” and quotes from each character. The best being Jay-Den bragging about his chives omelet, and Reymi remarking about the "Risa vacation on planet Darem."

The genius touch is photos of the actual actors from their younger years to make it more meaningful. It’s a perfect send-off for the first season and proof that "Rubincon" stands as an excellent finale for SFA’s first year. And it's an episode that deserves far better than a mere 6.8 stars.
