However, the new series ranks quite differently depending on location.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy premiered on Jan. 15, and the new science fiction show is already climbing high the streaming charts on Paramount Plus. Creator Gaia Violo’s YA take on Gene Roddenberry’s beloved universe officially checks in and makes its debut on streaming at No. 3 in the United States according to FlixPatrol, only beaten out by Taylor Sheridan’s No. 1 Landman and the hilarious animated classic South Park at No. 2.

In an attempt to promote Starfleet Academy and, hopefully, reach a larger audience, the new Star Trek show’s first episode, “Kids These Days,” dropped early on YouTube — but only in certain countries. However, as a result of being offered domestically on YouTube, Starfleet Academy ranks higher in the U.S. However, internationally, it is an entirely different animal altogether. (Continued...)
