2. Storytelling
Stargazers writer Jarrett Melendez uses his storytelling style in episode 11 to spotlight Syrrik's life behind closed doors. Whether or not readers believe that his father, Jato, is emotionally abusive toward his son (he is, in my opinion), the way Jato berates and mocks him is, in any case, disturbing to witness.
The way Syrrik wants to open up to Leon once they're alone in Leon's kitchen at the end of the episode, compared to the way he obeyed Jato in the corridor before, tells me that Melendez understands mirroring.
In this case, it's the urge to conform versus the awareness of one's developing personality, needs, goals, and desires. This adds yin-yang intensity to the tale that might be lost otherwise, given the static medium.
