Now that we know what caused Syrrik to pull away from the others while they were becoming young adults, I want to cheer every time he wrestles with his desire for independence versus the desire to please and obey Jato, his career-minded father and the head of security at the station.
Questioning your elders' values as you grow is something we can all relate to, and I'm betting that more readers out there came around to Syrrik's side after seeing him through Leon's memories.
It's startling to realize that Syrrik's love of play and his creativity were crushed by his father's unyielding grasp, but one thing's for sure--that iron hold is starting to slip.
