Welcome back to another review of Stargazers: A Star Trek Story, Redshirt readers. The young adult webcomic is coming along, and so much is happening that I can't wait to review the artwork, character development, and the storytelling for this chapter.
In Stargazers episode 12, Leon and Syrrik finally kissed, which I've been waiting for. Now, let's dive into episode 13 and return to Deep Space 9 to see how Leon handles this latest development.
1. Artwork
I'm so glad to see MeeMee again in Stargazers episode 13. She's a complete hoot, and unlike others on the station, she gives not one jot about impressing or cowering before Jato, who intimidates everyone else on the station.
Everyone stationed on DS0 quits speaking when Jato walks by, but not MeeMee. The Kisai Entertainment artwork team make this contrast obvious with onomatopoeia like "avert" and "tremble." And Jato's smirk says it all as most people flee in his presence, but then there's MeeMee.
MeeMee and Jato happen to meet in the corridor, and he sneers at her. She simply replies, "I dunno know why you're sneering at me when you've got your pants tucked into your boot, Jato." Get him, MeeMee!
The artwork that follows is some of the best in this chapter, as we get a "DUN" to match the reveal of his boot, and then the art shifts to that chibi style. Both are used to diffuse tension between rivals and, in this case, take Jato down a peg or two. I've been hoping someone would take him on.
