It looks like Anson Mount may have spoiled the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds series finale with a behind-the-scenes photo he shouldn’t have posted.

As Strange New Worlds finished filming its fifth and final season, the actors shared images from the final days on set. Anson Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike, shared a special photo album created by co-star Jess Bush, who portrays Christine Chapel. Bush joked that maybe Mount jumped the gun a bit by posting it, which features an image of a long-haired and bearded Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck), a la his Discovery days, by saying (per ScreenRant):

"Anson should not have posted that photo [laughs]. Yeah, I’m not gonna tell you [anything about it]."

Spock's long-haired look is also much like what Leonard Nimoy sported in the first Star Trek movie, hinting this could be some sort of “flash forward” of a future Spock. Although, since Pike and Spock are dressed in similar costumes, it also indicates a possible nod to their time in Discovery. Check out the image in question courtesy of Mount's Instagram post below. It's photo No. 8 in the album.

There are hopes for a "Year One” series, yet an intriguing idea is that as Pike surrenders to his fate, he gets a vision of how his crew will turn out, including Spock’s journey. That adds to the intrigue over the final episodes.

Strange New Worlds filmed its last two seasons back to back, with the fifth season only including six episodes. Revealing a glimpse of Spock's fate is a good to wrap up the tale, but many questions about how the finale will unfold remain. Bush detailed that the actors are in a tough spot in that they want to celebrate the show’s ending, but don’t want to spoil what’s coming.

"I will let you know [what it's like]. I have not experienced this before," Bush said during the same panel. "I think it’s really special. You know, the end of the show was really poignant for us. Very bittersweet. And so, I think still being able to come to these conventions and talk to you guys and to see each other… I live so far away from everybody else."

Bush continued by saying:

"So, the opportunity to come over here and see my castmates every few months, potentially, and to have the show continue to come out… I think that it really softens the blow of the end. I think it’s an incredible gift. I think a lot of actors don’t get this kind of thing with their shows, in terms of the continuation in conventions. It’s special. I feel lucky."

The final episode of the series will also include Thomas Jane as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy and Kai Murakami as Mr. Sulu, but it’s unclear what roles they’ll have in their brief one-episode storyline. Mount likely didn’t realize that sharing the Spock image might be some sort of spoiler, and Bush must enjoy teasing him about it.
