“Working on Star Trek Timelines was a phenomenal opportunity…”

Fans are in for a treat this fall when a brand-new book collecting the science fiction franchise’s rich history is scheduled to be released. The massive hardcover, which is titled Star Trek Timelines, was painstakingly put together by a quartet of skilled authors, including Michael Dismuke, Derek Tyler Attico, Kelli Fitzpatrick, and Jim Johnson. Dismuke spoke about the upcoming project by saying (per TrekMovie.com):

“Working on Star Trek Timelines was a phenomenal opportunity that really expanded my knowledge of the Trek-verse. I thought I knew it well, but when you have to write about it from a historical perspective, it is an entirely different deal […] I admit, having to rewatch the shows and movies and reading through piles of scripts isn’t the worse fate in the world.”

Dismuke, who obviously had the time of his life working on the massive Timelines book, also said during the same sit-down: “And seeing the timeline from the perspective of, say, the Department of Temporal Investigations, made me appreciate why DTI hates time travel so much. (I am now a card carrying member of DTI now. Tracking the time-hopping in Voyager’s “Relativity” is enough to make Q nauseous)… I am a Trekstorian!”

After looking over the Timelines preview pages, which is being published by Dorling Kindersley Limited (DK), I can honestly say the information is meticulously organized. And I was immediately drawn to the horrific, bloody image right from The Next Generation episode “Tapestry,” in which a young Jean-Luc Picard (Marcus Nash) is stabbed by a Nausicaan.

I also took notice of the preview page Star Trek: The Animated Series shared with The Motion Picture, mostly because of the V’ger lighting attack photo on the bridge of the USS Enterprise, featuring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy's on-screen reactions. I for one am already sold, and I can’t wait to look through the 336-page book.

Star Trek: Timelines is now available to preorder on Amazon, and the hardcover will cost fans $60. At the time of this writing, there is not a Kindle option for the book, which is scheduled to drop on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Do you plan on picking up a copy?
