It’s hard to make heads or tails of the situation between Tyler Perry and Mario Rodriguez at this point, as we’ve only heard the alleged victim’s side of the story. I visited Mr. Perry’s major social media channels (Instagram, X, Facebook) after the news broke about the lawsuit on Friday (Dec. 26), and the famed filmmaker hasn’t posted anything in response. He likely won’t either, given that his attorney was the one who issued a statement addressing the Rodriguez lawsuit.

My two cents for now are just that — not worth a whole lot. In my opinion, though, if Perry were to lose this $77 million lawsuit Rodriguez is pursuing, it wouldn’t bankrupt the Hollywood icon… financially. However, even with a net worth of $1.4 billion (per Forbes), losing a sexual assault lawsuit of this magnitude would undoubtedly bankrupt him in the court of public opinion — fans who pay his salary and made him the success he is today.
