The must-read mystery may become even more compelling to Trekkers and Trekkies.

WEBTOON’s must-read Recollection: A Star Trek Story is a bold and well-told young adult webcomic series that focuses on a group of ragtag passengers aboard the USS Good Hope, who have all lost their memories and don’t have any clue where the cryptic Federation vessel is taking them. And since Recollection takes place in the 24th century, it seems only logical that classic Star Trek characters might show up in the future.

Recollection’s author Sam Maggs addressed just such a possibility in a new interview (per CBR) by saying, “While there’s no doubt I’d love to bring in cameos from beloved Trek characters from the Voyager era, I actually found the 'locked room mystery' setting of Recollection to be pretty freeing."

Maggs continued by telling Comic Book Resources: "When I was working on Picard's Academy for IDW, a series that took place during Jean-Luc's time at Starfleet Academy, I was incredibly and necessarily beholden to decades of Trek continuity.”

For those who haven’t checked out the Recollection webcomic series yet, the YA mystery will drop its 16th episode later today (Sunday, Oct. 25). And the engaging Star Trek story is told solely through vertical-scrolling panels, rather than the way a traditional comic book is laid out in print.

Recollection also includes many compelling characters, but so far I’m most drawn to the romantic relationship developing between the comic’s lead protagonist, Early, and her sometimes obnoxious love interest Accel. However, the friendship between the intriguing Aenar called Remembrance, aka Remy, and Early seems to suggest a possible love triangle taking shape through the first 15 episodes.

These Recollection characters are dynamic enough all on their own, so cameos from Voyager crewmembers aren’t necessary. However, I’d personally like to see The Doctor show up on the Good Hope, if only to match wits with that Starfleet vessel’s hologram JAID (Joule-Aided Industrial Design).
