Five of Pavel Chekov’s most memorable TOS episodes are scheduled to remember Koenig.
Five Star Trek: The Original Series episodes will be shown in a mini marathon to remember the science fiction franchise’s beloved Pavel Chekov actor Walter Koenig, who passed died on Sunday, Oct. 25. The following season 2 and 3 TOS selections will be featured in back-to-back fashion on Sunday, Nov. 1, via Heroes & Icons TV Network (per Remind Magazine):
8 p.m. ET/PT: “Amok Time”
9 p.m. “Spectre of the Gun”
10 p.m. “Journey to Babel”
11 p.m. “The Deadly Years”
12 a.m. “The Gamesters of Triskelion”
Personally, my favorite Mr. Chekov moment from The Original Series episodes Heroes & Icons TV Network will feature comes courtesy of “The Deadly Years.”
After being the only member of the Enterprise’s landing party who does not display signs of accelerated aging, Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley) and the starship’s medical team run numerous tests on the ensign, which culminates in Chekov’s hilarious reaction (below) just after the 17-minute mark.
“Some more blood, Chekov,” the frustrated ensign gripes while Mr. Sulu (George Takei) listens. “A little won’t hurt, Chekov. Take off your shirt, Chekov. Roll over, Chekov. Breathe deeply, Chekov. Blood sample, Chekov. Model sample, Chekov. Skin sample, Chekov! If… if I live long enough, I’m going to run out of samples.”
“You’ll live,” Sulu insists.
“Oh, yes, I’ll live,” Chekov replies. “But I won’t enjoy it.”
The Heroes & Icons TV Network's Mr. Chekov marathon can be streamed either through Frndly TV or Philo. Meanwhile, those Star Trek fans who are interested in watching H&I’s tribute to Walter Koenig AND who subscribe through a cable provider, please check your local listings for availability.
