“We hope players will love how the IP and gameplay come together…”
Collectible card game (CCG) enthusiasts who also enjoy creator Gene Roddenberry’s science fiction universe are going to love the upcoming game Star Trek: Warp. Developed by Monumental LLC and Published by Plarium Global, Warp will allow fans to unlock and collect not only beloved characters, but starships and famous locations, too. The Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Monumental game development, Monty Kerr, said (per TrekMovie.com):
“It’s an honor to bring something new to one of the most cherished science fiction franchises in the world, and to honor its characters, starships, and iconic worlds. Our team is incredibly excited to finally share the experience we’ve crafted for franchise fans and CCG enthusiasts."
The statement continues as follows: "We hope players will love how the IP and gameplay come together when building decks, competing, earning rewards, and growing their skills across a variety of game modes.”
Star Trek fans can check out a sneak-peek video and several images from the Warp CCG on Steam, and the game will be available to play on both Windows and macOS platforms. Warp is FREE, too, but an official release date hasn’t been announced at the time of this writing.
However, Trekkies can already visit Steam and add the game to their wishlist. And more information about Star Trek: Warp will be revealed at the upcoming Next Fest, which begins at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, June 15, and runs through June 22.
After looking over the Warp preview materials, I’m delighted to see that many of my favorite characters, including William Shatner’s Captain Kirk, Ricardo Montalban’s Khan Noonien Singh, and Worf, are all present and accounted for. The CCG even features the USS Enterprise-D’s Ten Forward as one of the games locations which I absolutely love!
Do you plan on playing Star Trek: Warp? I mean, who can pass up a free game, right? Share your thoughts and comments with us on the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages. I just hope the CCG goes live before the franchise’s 60th anniversary this September.
Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
