'Will Shat in the house'

I’m not sure this new Raisin Bran commercial featuring William Shatner is truly worth the steep price Kellogg’s had to pay, but the hilarity extends far beyond the 30-second Super Bowl LX ad. Fans online have been coming up with their own peculiar puns and dropping them in the comment sections of both the TV version and the extended cut (above), and many of these written witticisms are just as funny as anything being said by Shatner in the commercial. Here are some of the responses from social media, many of which include a snarky Star Trek twist:

“Oh, I think I just Shat my pants laughing.”

“When you gotta go... you gotta boldly go...”

“That ship he beamed in from must be a Constitution class!”

“You don't know Shat.”

“This is NOT what I meant by ‘The Captain's Log!’”

Personally, I can’t believe how hard Kellogg’s leaned into its witty wordplay, but the lively ad's early release online has certainly grabbed the attention of Trekkies and Shatner’s faithful followers. However, at the time of this writing, the 30-second ad, which will air during Super Bowl LX, has only been viewed a bit over 684,000 times on YouTube. That’s not exactly going viral by today’s standards, which makes me wonder if Kellogg’s might have paid too much for this Shat.
