Star Trek actress negotiating to join Matthew McConaughey in new romance

Star Trek has offered fans plenty of romantic entanglements over the years. Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) certainly made a name for himself as a ladies’ man, and Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) made his own conquests while waiting out Deanna Troi on The Next Generation. However, it seems only right that the Kelvin timeline’s own Zoe Saldana is now negotiating to join Matthew McConaughey in what Deadline is reporting to be a new “romantic caper.”

Saldana is negotiating to play her role alongside McConaughey in Netflix’s upcoming movie titled Positano. Daniel Roher will helm the project, and he is probably best known for his work as both writer and director of the 2019 historical documentary Once Were Brothers.

Positano's story details aren’t available, at this time, regarding the screenplay by Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood, but sources tell the renowned trade publication that the plot revolves around “a romantic caper set in the Italian town the film is named after.”

Saldana finally working together with McConaughey is a no-brainer. Their on-screen chemistry alone will undoubtedly pull in audiences, and Positano will be lucky to have two Academy Award winners headlining the romantic caper. (Continued...)
