When Star Trek: Strange New Worlds wrapped up their second season, they were in the middle of their own unwinnable scenario. The Gorn had captured members of the Federation, and the U.S.S. Enterprise was given the order to withdraw from the conflict. Fans were left on bated breath as Captain Christopher Pike stood with an uncertain expression on his face, lost in a whirlwind of thought.

Obviously, the heroes would win the day, it's Star Trek after all, but the how is the question. Well, at New York Comic Con, we got a hint at how things may shake out when Star Trek premiered the first look at the show's third season.

In the snippet, which is roughly three minutes long, we see Pike snap out of his uncertainty and put together a plan to save his fellow Federation cohorts thanks to help from his crew. The scene shows the Enterprise dealing with a host of Gorn fighters before coming up with a plan to somehow track the Gorn ship.

It's quite a wild affair.

It was a great clip. A real treat for fans. Sadly, it didn't satiate the fandom. Instead, it wetted our appetatites and made us hungry for more.

Sadly, we're still in for a long way to wait, as the third season isn't expected until 2025. That may give some hope, as we are nearly done with October, but the show isn't expected to arrive in the first part of next year. Instead, you'll likely have to wait until the second or third quarter of 2025. It's a long while away, absolutely, but luckily Star Trek fans are about to get the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks to hold them over.

The fifth and final season will premiere on Oct. 24, 2024, and will bring back long-time Star Trek star, Garrett Wang (Harry Kim of Star Trek: Voyager fame) for one episode. Hopefully, that's enough until we finally get trailers for Strange New Worlds' third season, and the debut trailer for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
