#3 - Star Trek canon on the Cheronian species

I love it when Star Trek films and movies make references to previous canon, and the appearance of a Cheronian species (Virgil) was a delight. In Star Trek: The Original Series, the Cheronian species were at civil war with each other over a distinctive feature on their face in which half is black and the other half is white. The conflict was between the royal and ruling class of Cheronians with the black coloration on the right side of their face and the lower-class Cheronians with the black coloration on the left side of their face. Virgil's character in Section 31 had the black coloration on the right side of his face. Virgil's appearance being a Cheronian royal is interesting. In TOS, because of their civil war - Bele of the Cheronian ruling class and Lokai of the lower class were presumed to be the last of their kind. It remains to be seen if this part of the Star Trek canon will be explored further if Section 31 manages to be a success for Paramount+.
