We need to see Harry Kim appear on another series sometime soon

Star Trek: Lower Decks will bring back Harry Kim but if one person deserves more screen time, its him.

Star Trek: Voyager really had a great cast. Not all of them had the best storylines, but just about every character was shown to matter in a significant way. Sure, some still have memes about them; like that of the perrernnial ensign, Harry Kim, but all of them were beloved by someone. Despite the show ending in 2001, most of the cast have come back into the fold in some form.

Star Trek: Prodigyy brought back Kathryne Janeway, Chakotay and The Doctor, while Picard had Tuvok and Seven of Nine appear. Lower Decks had a minor Tom Paris cameo and in their final season, the show will feature Paris' best friend, the aformentioned Harry Kim.

Bringing in Kim means that there are only a handful of characters left form the main cast that haven't appeared again in a Star Trek series; Neelix, Kes and B'Elanna Torres. Yet, of all the names who have appeared or have yet to, it's Kim who deserves the most attention.

On Voyager, Kim was often the butte of some jokes and was constantly the low man on the list. A perpetual ensign, many wondered if he'd ever be promoted. In the latest trailer for Lower Decks, one of the Kims that we see is a lieutenant and we're hoping it's the prime-timeline version.

It's the fact he's been an ensign for so long, that we think a single epsiode of Lower Decks just isn't enough. He spent so much time on Voyager not being a leader, that wee'd like to see more of Kim doing his thing. We did see some episodes where an alternate reality version of Kim was more assertive, confident and sure of himself, but not so much that we're satisified.

We need to see more. He, and his actor Garrett Wang, deserve a chance to flush out the character. We know Wang will be back with Kim in Lower Decks, and we're almost positive he'd come back for a live-action spin as well should the opportunity present itself. With Star Trek being what it is, it wouldn't be hard to have Kim go back in time to see the crew of the Enterprise during an episode of Strange New Worlds, or go to the future and see his old friend The Doctor in an episode of Starfleet Academy.

Seeing a full-fleshed out Kim is something we as fans would love to see.
