Star Trek has had many great ideas when it comes to branding over the years, but few leave as indelible mark as their brand agreement with the Hallmark company. They're now known for cheesy love stories that center around holidays or vacations, usually with the same three plots. Just, usually, with different set dressing.
Yet, once upon a time, they were known more for their work in the ornament and greeting card work. Things they still do, but just aren't what they're most known for. There was a time, however, that arguably their most sought-after and desired ornaments were their Star Trek collaborations.
They would bring various ships to the market, small enough to hang from a tree, but large enough to appreciate the fine details that come along with Star Trek designs. It's been such a staple over the years that Hallmark continues to make them, just new and different every year.
And each and every year, fans flock to try and find them. Well, with Christmas right around the corner, we thought we'd look at the new releases for 2024. The six new ornaments were announced earlier in the year, right around the start of summer, and it contained some of the most dynamic designs yet.
- 2024 U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Refit
- Spock - Mini Star Trek: The Motion Picture Spock Ornament, 1.84”
- Star Trek Generations U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B Ornament With Light
- Star Trek: The Next Generation “Unification II” Ornament With Sound
- Star Trek: The Keeper Ornament
- Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Captain Christopher Pike Ornament With Sound
Two ships joined the selection this year, with the U.S.S. Enterprise "refit" and the U.S.S. Enterprise-B. The Enterprise-B had a variant that had 'damage' from a battle, but those were rare and only for select conventions.
Four characters also got a figure. Spock from The Next Generation's "Unification" episode got his second ornament, now with Data. Captain Christopher Pike got his first as well, featuring Anson Mount's design from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. One ornament from the original pilot of Star Trek features The Keeper, while Dr. Beverly Crusher got an action ornament, depicting the doctor in motion.
