Star Trek Discovery: Explore the U.S.S. Discovery in 3D

The design of the U.S.S. Discovery from CBS’ new Star Trek Discovery has been controversial with Star Trek fans, explore the Discovery with this 3D model and then let us know what you think!

ICYMI: These fan theories for the plot of Star Trek Discovery are epic.

If you described the effect the design of the U.S.S. Discovery had on the Star Trek fanbase as “polarizing” you’d be putting it mildly. It seems like Trekkies either love, or absolutely hate the look of the ship from CBS’ new Star Trek Discovery. 

In the end though we’ve only seen Discovery in one short teaser trailer, and the the Star Trek Discovery production team admitted that the ship design wasn’t final. So the ship may still end up looking radically different from the one we’ve seen so far.

Also you have to take into account that Star Trek fans in general are known for hating anything new. Many diehard Star Trek: The Original Series fans also hated Star Trek: The Next Generation and the Enterprise D when it was first released; there was just no internet and so their objections weren’t as easily viewable… and let’s not even go down the path of Trekkies hating the Kelvin timeline.

So with all that in mind perhaps we should give Discovery some time before we rush to judgement on the new ship? In the meantime however we can use this wonderful 3D model built by ntdw to explore the current version of the Discovery in 3D.
