Star Trek: Voyager “Some kind of…” Supercut

facebooktwitterreddit

This fan made video supercut highlighting every use of the phrase “some kind of…” from Star Trek: Voyager is some kind of hilarious.

I absolutely love videos that make fun of the common tropes used in Star Trek. If you can’t laugh at the thing you love then you’re putting it on too high a pedestal. The humor in this video about Star Trek: Voyager certainly comes from a place of love. You couldn’t have watched that many Voyager episodes without loving it.

I had seen a few people joke about the “some kind of…” phrase in Trek before, and I’d heard people talk about Voyager over using it, but I didn’t know it was this prevalent.

WARNING: IF YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO YOU WILL LAUGH, BUT YOU WILL ALSO NEVER BE ABLE TO LOOK AT VOYAGER THE SAME WAY AGAIN. Seriously, how could you not notice this while watching Voyager now?

It would be easy to do a “I’m not a ____, I’m a Doctor” or “Fascinating” supercut from Star Trek: The Original Series, but to find this in Voyager, I’m impressed. Even though I’m as big a Trekkie as you’ve ever met, I would find it hard to watch this much Voyager all at once and concentrate on a project like this. Not because Voyager is bad, but because I have a few nagging complaints about Voyager never living up to what it could be, and those would distract me.

This also reminded me of the great Voyager torpedo countdown.

That one makes me laugh every time. Sure they could have found a way to make more torpedos or split up the yields and make more with a smaller output, but come on it’s just a funny video.
