30 Reasons Why Captain Picard is Better than Captain Kirk

Picard is a more responsible captain.

Captain Kirk continually puts everyone in danger and is pretty reckless with his crew. When you look at one of the first episodes of the first season of Star Trek, he brings on a young boy and puts them all in danger of being blown up since he controls things with his mind. Now, that’s not to say that Picard was perfect.

In fact, he was far from it. But he never got them almost blown up as much as Kirk did. It seemed like every episode had some threat that was going to get the crew killed. (And this isn’t one of those moments where Pine’s Kirk was any different. In fact, he’s worse.)

But it makes for an easy transition from Kirk to Captain Picard. Why? Because Picard doesn’t constantly put his crew in danger and then pull some magic trick to save them all. He is just a generally good captain who makes sure his crew is safe no matter the cost.

Kirk had to have lost at least 30 crew members on every mission they went on. But Picard worked hard to make sure his crew was always safe and it makes him a better captain.
