Spock’s illustrious father Sarek will be played by James Frain in Star Trek: Discovery.

We got some bad news today about Star Trek: Discovery being delayed again, but don’t get too down, there’s also some interesting news. It looks like the father of Spock will be in Star Trek: Discovery.

Sarek will be played by James Frain who you might have seen in True Blood, Water for Elephants, or Tron: Legacy.

WARNING: THE REST OF THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPECULATION THAT MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR STAR TREK: DISCOVERY!

The casting of Sarek is interesting because it may be a clue as to what the major plot of Star Trek: Discovery will be. Now having Sarek in the cast isn’t a lock that we might be about to see the fall of Garth of Izar, but it certianly could be a clue. Surely Sarek would be involved in something as major as the Federation’s most renown captain falling from grace.

Other clues that it’s Garth of Izar are that the star or focus of the show is the Lieutenant Commander. If this is Garth’s fall seeing things from the people who slowly come to realize that the great man has gone insane would be the way to go.

Also there’s the fact that CBS is attacking Axanar so hard. Clearly it’s about more than just fan films and some parts of Axanar are going to be covered in Star Trek: Discovery.

There’s obviously been some problems with Discovery, but a showdown between Garth of Izar and Sarek would be fantastic to see. Obviously the wise Vulcan would be someone a crew with suspicious about their captain might look to.
