Scott Gimple showrunner of the hit zombie drama “The Walking Dead” says Sonequa Martin-Green is more than capable of handling roles on two big shows.
The Walking Dead star Sonequa Martin-Green has been cast as the lead in CBS’ upcoming Star Trek: Discovery. This of course caused some fans of the hit zombie drama to speculate that she might be leaving the show. According to We Got This Covered though that might not be the case.
Here’s what The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple had to say about Sonequa Martin-Green:
"“Sonequa Martin-Green can do anything. I’ve seen her battle a horde of walkers this year while simultaneously battling a stomach flu that would have had most people crying in the dirt. She can fulfill the duties of a Lieutenant Commander on a Constitution-class starship whilst battling walkers, Saviors, and whatever gets in Sasha’s way. We’ve had to juggle before. I will certainly juggle for Star Trek any day of the week. Okay, maybe not on Sunday.”"
Editor’s note: of course Discovery isn’t a Constitution class ship, calm down everyone, I’m sure it he didn’t mean it.
It certianly sounds like if you’re a Sonequa Martin-Green fan you’re going to be getting a double dose of the talented actress for a while. The Walking Dead may still kill off her character, as they tend to do, but that’s not what it sounds like from this statement.
Star Trek: Discovery has had a hard time getting started, but things certianly seem to be moving in the right direction now. Filming has started on the new Star Trek series in Toronto and we eagerly await an official launch date for Discovery.
