A fan made Daystrom Institute library file on the mirror universe alliance between the Klingon Empire and the Cardassian Union.

Star Trek YouTuber Ketwolski has produced a series of fan made Daystrom Institute library files covering everything from Cardassians to the Temporal Cold War. These files are both fun and full of fascinating background information that both casual and long time devoted Trekkies will find interesting.

Who doesn’t love the mirror universe? There’s something about a Trek universe turned on its head that’s just fascinating. When you replace the force for good in the galaxy, the Federation, with the Terran Empire the effects ripple out in a plethora of interesting ways.

One of the most interesting plot points in the mirror universe episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was the Klingon and Cardassian Alliance. This Alliance allowed the Cardassians and the Klingons to overthrow the Terran Empire and assert dominance over the Alpha Quadrant. The idea of Bajor as the quadrant power broker was also a fascinating addition.

We of course don’t know if the mirror universe will appear in Star Trek: Discovery. It seems unlikely that we will get a mirror universe episode in the first season of Discovery, since this first season is going to tell one story and not be episodic, but you never know. The mirror universe does tend to pop up in second or third seasons, so that’s certianly something to look forward to in the coming years.
