Deep Space Nine Documentary Crowdfunding Reaches 200%
Ira Steven Behr and Adam Nimoy Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for a documentary on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine reaches 200% of its original goal.
Steven Behr and Adam Nimoy’s Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary titled “What We Left Behind” has struck a chord with Trekkies. With 23 days left the crowdfunding campaign for the documentary has now reached nearly 200% of its original goal.
It’s clear that Star Trek fans want to see this documentary.
That video is adorable and perfect.
This of course means that the campaign is now into its stretch goals. The first stretch goal added an additional half hour to the film and added more graphics and animation. The second stretch goal, which appears to be about 40% complete will add an original score and a writers room feature to the project.
Adam Nimoy’s first Star Trek documentary titled “For The Love of Spock” was a huge success and there’s no doubt that his track record is driving some of the enthusiasm for this film. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine holds a special place in the hearts of many Trekkies though and that’s also playing a part in the success of this crowdfunding campaign.
Deep Space Nine really opened up the Star Trek universe in a new and exciting way. It showed us just how big the galaxy was and that the stories being told from the perspective of alien cultures could tell us a lot about ourselves. It was a bold risk taking Star Trek and putting it on an alien space station, but it was a risk that paid off. Quark would have been proud.
If you want to donate to “What We Left Behind” you can do so on the film’s Indiegogo page.
