Spoiler Free ‘Logan’ Review

Here’s our spoiler free review of ‘Logan’, which is of course the finale X-Men film for Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

I’m going to do my best to make this review of Logan as spoiler free as possible. That being said I will have to talk about the movie some to review it, so if you don’t want to know anything at all you probably shouldn’t be reading about the movie online. If you want Logan spoilers don’t worry, I’ll be doing a regular spoiler filled review tomorrow.

Logan is of course the ninth film in which Hugh Jackman plays the Wolverine. Believe it or not it’s been seventeen years since Jackman first suited up as Wolvie in 2000’s X-Men movie. What’s even crazier is that it looks like the best was saved for last.

Logan is everything I ever wanted in a Wolverine movie, I just wish the formula could have been figured out before the ninth film.

Logan is indeed rated R, and it should be. The violence and language in the film add to the gritty feel and make the dire situations Logan and Charles Xavier find themselves in more realistic. I suppose we can thank Deadpool for showing studios that not all superhero movies have to be family friendly.

Patrick Stewart has never been more impressive as Charles Xavier either. In this film, as seen in the trailer, Xavier is much older and suffering from the ravages of time. It’s one of the best performances I’ve seen out of Stewart, and with his long list of impressive performances that’s saying something.

Logan isn’t going to be your feel good summer blockbuster style superhero movie, but it is an outstanding movie.

Many people are comparing the feel of Logan to a western, and that’s a spot on comparison. As long as you go into the film knowing that this is going to be an intense and gritty ride your going to have a great time.
