‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ Soundtrack Being Released On Vinyl

If you’re a Star Trek fan and you love nostalgia you’re in for a treat because Star Trek: The Motion Picture’s soundtrack is being released on vinyl.

I am of course a Trekkie, but my other big obsession is vinyl. I’ve got quite the collection of vinyl records spanning every genre of music. I’m especially fond of the record versions of movie soundtracks though. I really enjoy listening to those while writing or working. Now I’m finally going to be able to add my favorite Star Trek music to that collection.

According to TrekCore La-La Land Records is going to release on vinyl the 2012 re recordings of the expanded Star Trek: The Motion Picture score. You can of course already purchase these amazing recordings on CD, but why fool with a CD when they are coming on vinyl?

The record is set to go on sale on March 14th, so we only have a week to wait. Until then you could just listen to the Star Trek: The Motion Picture soundtrack on repeat.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture is not my favorite Star Trek movie. I understand why it’s the favorite of some people, but it’s just not on the top of my list. I’d put it pretty close to the bottom with Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek Into Darkness honestly.

The music from Star Trek: The Motion Picture however is something else entirely. Star Trek is full of fantastic music, and this is some of the best from Trek. The themes from this movie continue on and reverberate through the rest of Trek.
