Strange Irish Redubbing of ‘Star Trek: The Animated Series’

It’s awful lip reading meets Trek when some Irish Star Trek fans redub parts of ‘Star Trek: The Animated Series’ into their own strange series called Kirk Squad.

Star Trek has sometimes inspired some weird and crazy fan creations, but Kirk Squad might be one of the weirdest. Kirk Squad is basically a redubbing of some Star Trek: The Animated Series episodes, but a redubbing gone totally sideways.

You might be familiar with the popular Bad Lip Reading videos where some comedians redub the mouth movements of athletes, politicians, and actors into crazy sentences with hilarious results. Kirk Squad is kind of like that, but with Star Trek: The Animated Series… and an Irish accent.

You really have to see Kirk Squad for yourself to understand.

Yeah, I don’t even know what to say about this… except to point out that there’s more. If you’ve fallen in love with the wackiness of Kirk Squad then check out Seamus Hanly’s YouTube page for even more episodes.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Star Trek: The Animated Series. I’ve tried to get into it several times, but just haven’t been able to make myself really enjoy it the way I do the rest of Trek. I’m not against cartoons, I love the Trek comics and graphic novels, but something about TOS bugs me. Maybe things like Kirk Squad and the always hilarious Swear Trek are what I need to learn to love this Trek franchise misfit? I don’t think you have to love all of Trek to be a Trekkie, not every series is to everyone’s taste, but I’d love to come to love Star Trek: The Animated Series.
