CBS has released eight new images as well as the trailer from “Project Daedalus” the upcoming ninth episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 2.

It is pretty safe to assume that for many Star Trek fans, even the most ardent holdouts, “If Memory Serves” will go down as a benchmark episode of Star Trek: Discovery.

The episode cleverly used original footage from “The Cage” to explain to newer fans the significance of Talos IV and what it means to Captain Pike. In addition, Ethan Peck’s Spock was given a chance to shine and his relationship with Michael Burnham was explored a bit more.

More from Star Trek: Discovery

All in all, “If Memory Serves” did an incredible job in connecting Discovery to the larger tapestry of Star Trek lore and continuity. And if the reviews are correct, it may have even convinced a few of the gatekeepers to give up their quest and join the rest of us as we enjoy the rest of the season.

Because while “If Memory Serves” was an incredible episode, we still have six more to go in Season 2 and the mystery of the Red Angel continues to deepen.

To begin to get fans excited for the home stretch of Discovery‘s sophomore season they have released eight new images from Episode Nine, titled “Project Daedalus.” It sees the crew of Discovery attempt to break into Section 31 and, well, things don’t go exactly as planned.

“Project Daedalus” sees the return of Jonathan Frakes to the director’s chair for the second time this season. The episode is also the first one written by Michelle Paradise, who as any self-respecting Trekker knows was just announced as the new co-showrunner for Discovery Season 3.

From the episode synopsis:

"When the Discovery crew infiltrates Section 31’s headquarters, suspicions arise that the crew may have a traitor in their midst. Burnham tries to help Spock but her efforts don’t go as planned."

In addition to the new images CBS has also released the trailer for “Project Daedalus” on Star Trek.com as well as making it available to view on the Netflix Instagram account.
