With his original role as Captain of the USS Enterprise Kirk served for three seasons in the Captain’s chair and would go on to become Admiral, and Captain once again aboard the re-fitted NCC-1701, the stolen HMS Bounty and the all new and improved NCC-1701-A across six movies and he continued his original journey in animated form during The Animated Series.
Kirk continued his tenure with crossovers into Generations returned from the dead, where he to help pass the movie franchise torch to Captain Picard. His next appearances were through archived footage in the groundbreaking episode of Deep Space Nine entitled Trials and Tribble-ations when the crew of Deep Space Nine was sent back in time into the Original Series episode The Trouble with Tribbles.
He made two more appearances in archive form, one as a voiceover in the Enterprise finale These are the Voyages, and in a picture of the original crew in Beyond.
As one of the most beloved characters in the history of Star Trek, it’s interesting to think what might have been had the original pilot been better received by the network and we had been watching a different captain the entire time, which leads us to his predecessor, Christopher Pike.
